Like good old-fashioned Chicago-style punk rock? ...Have ADHD? If you answered yes to either of these questions, make sure to check out The Reaganomics full-length debut "Lower the Bar". With 17 songs clocking in at under 30 minutes, "Lower the Bar" is wonderfully abrupt, abrasive and the perfect soundtrack for your next dose of Ritalin.
We were fortunate enough to get a sneak peak at the album, which is officially being released for mass consumption on 2/15.
The first three tracks, "Don't Worry, We'll Play First", "Ed Hardy", and "Directive Five" are three of my personal favorites on the album. So much so that at first listen, I found myself tracking back to listen again and again. After about 10 minutes and 9 times through, I was finally able to make it to track four.
"Dont Worry..." is a fast and fun grievence about local bands who sell 'merch' and complain about playing first. "Ed Hardy", which features guest vocals by Kody Templeman of Teenage Bottlerocket, explores the questionable fashion taste of older women attempting to recapture their youth. Just in case you think these guys don't have a sense of humor, pay close attention to the line they gave Kody to sing. There's not much more I can say about "Directive 5" other than... 'pure lyrical genius'. It is a truly great 3-chord punk song about RoboCop's weekend activities that would make Peter Weller proud.
Nothing is off limits for these guys: Ren. fairs, green Chicago Cubs hats, Miller Lite, and bands who send e-vites. This album is a ton of fun, so crack open a cold one with Robo' and check out The Reaganomics "Lower the Bar" when it comes out on 2/15.
Don't like what you hear? Too bad. They probably have song about why you're a tool.
